Conrad A. Plimpton, MSDx Chairman
Conrad Plimpton concurrently serves as Chairman of the Inolex Chemical Company, a corporation that produces specialty chemicals and pharmaceutical intermediates; partner of Corporate Development International (CDI Global) in pharma biotech; the founding Chairman of Comartis USA; founding shareholder and director of Troy Chemical; founded NeuroHealth Foundation in ZUG to sponsor Multiple Sclerosis Research at the University of Zurich; the Chairman of Cibola Technologies, Tucson Arizona; and previously was Chairman, founding shareholder/CEO of Exide Electronics Group Inc, now Powerware Corporation. Conrad Plimpton brings experience from years of involvement in local, national, and international companies.
Michael Sember, MSDx Vice Chairman
Mike Sember is currently Chairman and CEO of Paylon Medical as well as Principal at Brush Creek LLC, a biopharmaceutical consulting firm. Mike Sember has over 30 years of experience in the life Science and pharmaceutical industries. He served as Executive VP of Business Development at Élan Corporation for over 10 years. There he led investment activities, licensing deals, and partnering initiatives at Élan. Notable deals include licensing several pharmaceutical to Biogen Idec and Acorda Pharmaceutical. He served as the Southern Arizona BIO Chairman as well. His experience in the Multiple Sclerosis market, in pharmaceuticals, and in VC investing is valuable to MSDx.
David McCaleb, MSDx Board Member
David McCaleb is currently an active angel investor and board advisor to a number of biotech and startup technology companies. He has been active in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries for over 35 years and played significant role in establishing initial commercial operations for Amgen, Gilead, Cephalon and CV Therapeutics. Mr. McCaleb is an active participant in the Arizona business community serving as a mentor at ASU Venture Catalyst, a frequent judge on Arizona Commerce Authority programs and a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of St. Joseph’s Foundation. As the former SVP of Commercial Operations at CV Therapeutics, Mr. McCaleb was responsible for developing the company’s commercial infrastructure and launching their first product Ranexa®. He has directed the worldwide introduction for several billion dollar products including Merck’s Vasotec® and Amgen’s Neupogen®.
Marie Wesselhoft, President
Marie Wesselhoft brings extensive healthcare market experience and a successful track record in general management within large market-leading companies and new business ventures. Her early career started as a hospital laboratory director for Humana Hospitals. Marie held senior leadership positions in the diagnostics and medical surgical businesses during her twenty-year career at Cardinal/Baxter/American Hospital. In her role as general manager of the Scientific Products, Marie was responsible for the $850 million diagnostics business including the management of a 120+ sales team and a 20+ marketing organization. Throughout her career she has had multiple opportunities to launch $30-50M product lines, negotiate partnership agreements, manage key accounts, as well as in facilitate the integration of teams for acquisitions and divestitures. Most recently Marie served as the Director for the Arizona Center for Innovation, a high-tech business incubator located at the University of Arizona. She currently serves on several boards including the Academy Village Service Corporation, BIOSA, UA Tech Launch Arizona, and Allendale Home for Children.
